Barcelona in the final of the Super Cup
Kathmandu. Barcelona has reached the final of the Spanish Super Cup. Barcelona entered the final by beating Real Sociedad on Wednesday night.
The match at the Nuvo Aconzel Stadium in Cordoba, Spain, was decided by a penalty. In the 39th minute of the game, Frankie de Jong scored for Barcelona to give the team the lead.
Michael O’Reilly scored the equalizer for Real Sociedad in the 51st minute. After that, the game ended in a tiebreaker when no side scored a goal in extra time.
Barcelona won the tiebreaker 3-2. Anthony Griezmann and Frankie de Jong, who scored earlier, failed to score on penalties. Barcelona was on the field without a regular captain in the game.
Former Super Cup winners Real Madrid will play Athletic Bilbao in the second semifinal. The winner of that game will compete with Barcelona for the title.
