2 held with mobile parts worth nearly Rs 95 million
Both arrested, along with the seized mobile parts and the motorcycle, have been handed over to the concerned authorities for further legal action.
KATHMANDU: Police and customs officials arrested two men from Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City, suspected of smuggling mobile phone parts worth Rs 95,550,000 on Kartik 25.
The arrested individuals are 33-year-old Santosh Chaudhary from Ward 19, Kheda, and 25-year-old Aashutosh Kumar Gupta, who runs Shiva Parvati Trade and Suppliers and claims Indian nationality.
Based on a special tip-off, the Armed Police Force’s Far-Western Province Intelligence Bureau coordinated with the proposed Gulma Trinagar Border Security to intercept Chaudhary riding a motorcycle (Reg. No. 01-008 P 5132) carrying mobile parts worth Rs 9,08,000, allegedly smuggled from India.
Chaudhary confessed that he was supplying the smuggled parts to Shiva Parvati Trade and Suppliers at the same location.
Following the tip-off, a joint team of border security and customs officials raided the store, seizing additional mobile parts worth Rs 84,42,550, for which Gupta could not provide valid documentation. Gupta was also taken into custody.
Both arrested, along with the seized mobile parts and the motorcycle, have been handed over to the concerned authorities for further legal action.
