2 dead, 7 injured as Bolero jeep plunges in Solukhumbu

KATHMANDU A Bolero jeep accident in Ghundu, Naya Pani, Mapyadudh Koshi Rural Municipality-6, Solukhumbu, claimed two lives and injured seven others on Monday afternoon.

The jeep, bearing registration number BAD 7742, was traveling from Waku Chowk (Ward 6) towards Barodi Rochma (Ward 7) when it fell about 100 meters off the road around 12 PM, according to the District Police Office, Solukhumbu.

The deceased have been identified as 28-year-old driver Pradeep Rai from Ward 5 and 28-year-old passenger Kushum Rai, both pronounced dead at the scene.

Their bodies were sent to District Hospital, Phaplu, for postmortem.

Three seriously injured—27-year-old Balram Rai, 30-year-old Devendra Rai, and 31-year-old Suresh Rai—were referred to Kathmandu for further treatment.

Other injured individuals, 19-year-old Manoj Rai and 17-year-old Sandeep Rai, are receiving treatment at Phaplu District Hospital. Two women, 27-year-old Devika Rai and 27-year-old Sabina Rai, were treated at Waku Health Post and discharged.

The police have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident.
