KATHMANDU: Fifteen trekkers, including three British nationals, were rescued from the Dhaulagiri Circuit Trek in Mustang after being stranded due to heavy snowfall.

The group had set out from Myagdi, intending to cross Dhaulagiri and reach Mustang, but got trapped in the “Hidden Valley” area of Mustang since Tuesday.

A joint rescue team comprising personnel from the High Altitude School of the Nepali Army, Indrabaks Battalion, Armed Police Force, Nepal Police, and civilian guides was dispatched on Wednesday.

Challenging conditions, including heavy snow, poor visibility, and difficult communication, made the rescue operation arduous.

After three days of relentless efforts, the team located the trekkers near Batashedanda at around 4,900 meters and safely evacuated them to Chauri Kharka.

The rescued tourists are now returning to Jomsom with the joint rescue team.
