KATHMANDU: Fifteen members of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) were laid to rest in Iraq’s capital, Baghdad, on Tuesday following a deadly US airstrike.

According to a security source, the strike occurred early Tuesday in the western province of Anbar Province, killing multiple fighters, including a senior commander.

In an official statement, the PMF condemned the attack as a “serious violation” of Iraq’s sovereignty, accusing the United States of disregarding international law and humanitarian principles.

The group also called on Iraq’s political leadership to take a firm and unified stance to prevent further violations and to safeguard the nation’s sovereignty.
