13th Magar Association National Convention begins (photos)

KATHMANDU: The 13th National General Convention of the Nepal Magar Association has officially begun in Kathmandu, marking a major gathering of the Magar community from across the country.

The event started today (Friday) with a cultural rally from Bhrikutimandap, which passed through Putalisadak and will conclude at the Nepal Academy in Kamaladi, where the formal opening ceremony is being held.

Participants from various regions of Nepal joined the rally dressed in traditional Magar attire, ornaments, and cultural displays, showcasing the community’s rich heritage.

The procession featured traditional musical performances including the dhol, madal, along with Kaura and Salai Jo rhythms, which became the main attractions of the event.

According to the organizers, the two-day convention will focus on key issues such as the preservation and promotion of Magar language, culture, traditions, and identity.
