KATHMANDU: Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Devendra Dahal, has stated that the government is moving forward systematically to develop railway services.

He made this remark on Thursday while inspecting the Janakpur-Jayanagar railway service.

He mentioned that the purpose of his visit was to conduct an on-site inspection of the railway stations to streamline the service.

The minister emphasized that the railway network from Janakpur to Bardibas would be constructed promptly, and the network from Bardibas to Nijgadh would be extended to connect with the Fast Track, which will link Kathmandu.

He also highlighted the ongoing construction of a railway washing center by the government, expressing confidence that the center would help reduce operational losses once completed.

Additionally, he announced that Nepal would soon introduce freight trains in cooperation with India, which would help boost trade by connecting the railway networks of both countries.

Minister Dahal further mentioned that Nepal is planning to extend its train services to Ayodhya, while also allowing India’s trains to operate up to Janakpur.
