NIC Asia Bank inaugurates libraries in community school buildings constructed by the bank

KATHMANDU: NIC Asia Bank, under its corporate social responsibility initiative, has inaugurated libraries in two community schools across various districts in the country.

These libraries are part of the school buildings constructed by the bank to support educational activities and create an outstanding academic environment, with the active participation of the concerned schools and local communities.

The libraries were officially opened on Ashwin 4, 2081 (Sept 20, 2024), and were handed over to Shree Adarsha Secondary School, located in Buddhashanti Rural Municipality-2, and Shree Gauriganj Secondary School, located in Gauriganj Rural Municipality-3, both in the Jhapa district of Koshi State.

The inauguration ceremonies were attended by representatives from local authorities, the schools, and the bank.

Manoj Prasai, Chairperson of Buddhashanti Rural Municipality, attended the inauguration ceremony at Shree Adarsha Secondary School, while Phoolbati Rajbanshi, Chairperson of Gauriganj Rural Municipality, graced the event at Shree Gauriganj Secondary School.

Additionally, Diwakar Bhattarai, the Head of Koshi State for NIC Asia Bank, along with representatives from the respective schools, were present at both events.

With the operation of these libraries, approximately 2,500 students and teachers from the two schools will directly benefit, the bank reported.

Earlier, NIC Asia Bank had already inaugurated a library in Shree Mohanyal Secondary School located in Joshipur Rural Municipality-1, Kailali district, Sudurpaschim State.

Similarly, the bank has also completed and handed over library buildings to other schools, including Shree Bala Sundari Secondary School in Bhagwanpur Rural Municipality-1, Siraha district; Shree Siddhartha Secondary School in Birgunj Metropolitan City-14, Parsa district; Shree Pavitra Secondary School in Bandipur Rural Municipality-1, Tanahun district, Gandaki State; Shree Public Secondary School in Siyari Rural Municipality-4, Rupandehi district, Lumbini State; and Shree Birendra Adarsha Secondary School in Rapti Municipality-7, Chitwan district, Bagmati State.

The bank stated that it has allocated a total budget of Rs 20.53 million for the construction of these library buildings.

With the establishment of these libraries, more than 11,000 students from the respective schools will directly benefit, having better access to essential reading materials and learning resources.

The bank believes this will significantly improve students’ academic performance and contribute to their overall personality development.
