Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Weidong in Nepal

KATHMANDU: Sun Weidong, the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, arrived in Nepal this morning for a three-day official visit.

Sun was welcomed by Krishna Prasad Dhakal, the head of the North East Asia Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).

During his visit, he will participate in the 16th meeting of the Nepal-China Diplomatic Consultation Mechanism, which is scheduled to be held in Kathmandu on June 25, as announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The meeting will be led by Foreign Secretary Sewa Lamsal from the Nepalese side, with senior officials from various ministries included in the delegation.

Discussions during the visit will cover the overall areas of bilateral relations and cooperation between Nepal and China, according to the ministry.

During his stay, Vice Minister Sun is also scheduled to pay courtesy calls on President Ram Chandra Poudel and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’.

He will conclude his visit and depart from Kathmandu on June 26.
