KATHMANDU: Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane has announced that the location of GB Rai has been discovered.

Speaking to journalists in Chitwan, Home Minister Lamichhane revealed that the main suspect in the cooperative fraud case, Rai, has been located in Malaysia.

Lamichhane stated that he has been in constant contact with Malaysian Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, who confirmed Rai’s location.

Quoting the Malaysian Home Minister, Lamichhane said, “The location has been identified. Discussions are ongoing about bringing him back to Nepal. Due to his legal status in Malaysia, there are difficulties in extraditing him, but efforts are continuing.”

Approximately a month and a half ago, the Ministry of Home Affairs, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, sent a letter to Malaysia requesting the arrest and repatriation of Rai, who is on Nepal’s police wanted list.

However, Malaysia has yet to provide any official response to the formal request to return Rai to Nepal.
