KATHMANDU: This morning, police constable Ajit Gole, who was assigned to the security of the Federal Parliament building, committed suicide by shooting himself.

Ajit, a 22-year-old constable stationed at the Parliament building gate, went into the restroom and shot himself.

Preliminary investigations suggest that Gole took his own life following issues in his relationship with his girlfriend.

Gole, a resident of Melung Rural Municipality-4 in Dolakha, had gotten engaged five months ago. Subsequently, he had sent his fiancée to Dubai for employment at his own expense. However, once she arrived in Dubai, she began to ignore Gole, leading to his distress.

It has been revealed that Gole repeatedly messaged his lover, threatening to kill himself. According to a police official, there was also a quarrel between them this morning via message. Following this, he went to the restroom and was seen talking to her.

“Gole often had disputes with his lover,” the police officer stated, “He used to message her saying he would kill himself. This morning as well, he sent such a message.”

After this morning’s argument via message, it is suspected that Gole made a video call to his fiancée in the restroom and shot himself during the call.

The deceased, Gole, was stationed at the Central Special Task Force in Kapan and was currently working at the Federal Parliament Security Base in Naya Baneshwar, under the Kathmandu Valley Police Office.
