KATHMANDU: New Zealand’s fast bowler Trent Boult has retired from international cricket after a rain-affected game against Papua New Guinea, which saw New Zealand win by seven wickets.

Boult had already announced his retirement following New Zealand’s failure to reach the Super 8 stage of the T20 World Cup.

His performance in the tournament was commendable, taking 9 wickets for 59 runs in 16 overs.

Reflecting on his career, Boult expressed, “I haven’t predicted much, but this is my last game in the World Cup. I’ve played with Southee for nearly 12 years. He’s close to me off the field, and I’ll miss him. We talked a lot before the tournament, but unfortunately, we couldn’t play our best.”

Despite New Zealand’s early exit from the tournament, Boult’s individual performances were a highlight.

As he steps away from international cricket, he leaves behind a legacy of excellence and sportsmanship.

Boult’s presence on the field will be missed by fans and teammates alike, but his contributions to New Zealand cricket will be remembered for years to come.
