KATHMANDU: New Zealand has been eliminated from the ongoing T20 World Cup.

On Friday morning, Afghanistan’s victory over PNG in Group C confirmed New Zealand’s exit from the tournament.

From Group C, Afghanistan and West Indies have advanced to the Super Eight stage.

Afghanistan defeated PNG by 7 wickets in this match.

Chasing PNG’s target of 96 runs, Afghanistan achieved the target in 15.1 overs, losing 3 wickets. Earlier, PNG had batted first and was all out for 95 runs in 19.5 overs.

With this win, Afghanistan climbed to the top of the group standings with 6 points, having won all three of their matches, and secured their place in the Super Eight.

Similarly, West Indies also won three matches and secured 6 points, placing them second in the group.

From this group, Uganda and PNG have also been eliminated.

New Zealand had lost both of their matches so far, resulting in their early exit from the T20 World Cup for the first time in the initial stage.

Now, Afghanistan will face West Indies, while New Zealand will play against Uganda and PNG.
