KATHMANDU: The Meteorological Forecasting Division has issued a heatwave warning for several regions in Nepal over the next three days.

In a special bulletin released on Thursday evening, the division highlighted the likelihood of extreme heat conditions from June 14 to June 16 in the central and western Terai regions.

The bulletin specifically identifies five districts—Kanchanpur, Kailali, Bardiya, Banke, and Dang—as areas where extreme heat is expected.

The division has urged residents to take necessary precautions to protect themselves from the potential impact of the heatwave.

Potential health effects from exposure to the heatwave include fatigue, weakness, increased thirst, headaches, muscle cramps, dizziness, fainting, muscle pain, and nausea.

To mitigate these risks, the Meteorological Forecasting Division has provided the following recommendations:

  • Stay in cool places during peak heat hours.
  • Avoid outdoor activities and minimize exposure to direct sunlight.
  • Wear light, breathable, cotton clothing.
  • Cover your head with a hat or scarf when outdoors.
  • Drink plenty of water and hydrating fluids like juice or sherbet regularly.

The division also advises individuals experiencing health issues to remain in regular contact with healthcare providers for further guidance and support.
