KATHMANDU: In the ICC T20 World Cup, Bangladesh secured their second win by defeating the Netherlands by 25 runs.

The match, held on Thursday in Kingstown, saw Bangladesh setting a target of 160 runs, which the Dutch team failed to chase down, managing only 134 runs for eight wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

For the Netherlands, Sybrand Engelbrecht scored 33 runs. Vikramjit Singh contributed 26, captain Scott Edwards added 25, Michael Levitt made 18, Aryan Dutt scored 15, and Max O’Dowd chipped in with 12 runs.

Bangladesh’s Risad Hossain took three wickets. Taskin Ahmed took two wickets, while Mustafizur Rahman, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, and Mahmudullah each claimed one wicket.

Earlier, after losing the toss and being put into bat, Bangladesh posted a total of 159 runs for five wickets in their 20 overs.

The match started about half an hour late due to rain. Shakib Al Hasan was the top scorer for Bangladesh with 64 runs off 45 balls, hitting nine fours. Tanzim Hasan added 35 runs, Mahmudullah scored 25, and Zakir Hasan contributed 14 runs.

For the Netherlands, Aryan Dutt and Paul van Meekeren took two wickets each, while Tim Pringle claimed one wicket.

With this victory, Bangladesh has strengthened their chances of reaching the Super 8 stage, accumulating four points from three matches and sitting in second place in the standings. The Netherlands, with two points from three matches, are in third place.
