KATHMANDU: The Patan High Court has issued an interim order directing community schools within the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) not to close down the rented classrooms.

On Wednesday, the bench of Justice Lekhnath Poudel issued the interim order not to close down the rented classrooms for a short period.

Community schools have been instructed not to close down the rented classrooms until July 21. Additionally, the Patan High Court has summoned both parties for discussion on July 7 to decide whether to issue or lift the interim order.

For the past few days, the KMC had been pressing community schools to shut down the rented classrooms.

In response to this, Tulsi Prasad Agasti filed a writ petition at the Patan High Court on Tuesday.

The municipality has put a lock on the classrooms, claiming that they are needed for educational purposes but the metropolitan police have sealed them, citing other purposes for their rent.
