Landslide strikes Arun III worker dormitory, killing one & injuring two

KATHMANDU: A landslide in Sankhuwasabha has resulted in the death of a laborer working on a hydropower project.

The incident occurred in Chichila Rural Municipality-3, Solakhani, where the landslide buried one laborer and injured two others, according to police reports.

Gangaram Tharu, a laborer from Ghorabhitta, Bardiya, who was working on the Arun III Hydropower Project, lost his life after being trapped by the landslide triggered by continuous heavy rainfall on Tuesday night.

The landslide also injured Umesh Karki and Govinda Tharu from Makwanpur.

The incident happened while they were asleep.

The landslide buried three out of the 14 rooms constructed by the hydropower project for the workers.
