Metropolitan City places locks on 175 leased public school shutters

KATHMANDU: The Education Department of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has installed locks on 175 shutters across seven community schools for commercial purposes.

Among them, 61 shutters from four community schools were locked by municipal employees on rent, while others were closed by their respective operators.

Only 46 shutters out of the locked ones belong to J.P. School Thamel, which operates commercial activities including restaurants, as stated by the metropolitan city.

Similarly, locks have been put on 36 shutters of Kanya Mandir Secondary School, 11 of Ratnarajya Secondary School in Baneshwor, 14 of Janakalyan Secondary School, 36 of Pashupati Mitra Secondary School, 12 of Mangaladevi Secondary School, and 20 of Mahendra Secondary School in Boudha.

A team including officials from the department, Metropolitan Chief’s Secretariat, and Metropolitan Police visited the schools and installed locks on Saturday and Sunday.
