KATHMANDU: Nepal National Cricket Team Captain Rohit Kumar Paudel has expressed optimism about defeating Sri Lanka.

Speaking at a pre-match press conference, Captain Paudel stated that the match against Sri Lanka represents Nepal’s first opportunity to secure a win against a Test-playing nation.

He mentioned that the results achieved by other associate teams in the World Cup have boosted Nepal’s morale. “If we look at the World Cup, associate teams have defeated Test nations. This has increased our confidence,” he said. “We are moving forward with the belief that we can secure a win.”

Paudel emphasized the importance of the upcoming match, noting that Nepal has taken it very seriously. “Our bowling attack is quite good. Even in losses, our performance has been commendable,” he remarked. “In this World Cup, understanding the conditions of the field is crucial. Therefore, we need to grasp that tomorrow and apply our strategy accordingly. Nepal also plays good cricket.”

The Nepal National Cricket Team will face Sri Lanka in their second match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup tomorrow.

The match is scheduled to take place at Broward County Stadium in Florida at 5:15 AM Nepal time. The World Cup began on June 1.

Nepal played their first match against the Netherlands on June 4 in Dallas. After facing Sri Lanka tomorrow, the team will head to the West Indies. In the West Indies, they will play South Africa on June 15 and Bangladesh on June 17 in their final league matches.

Nepal’s leg-spinner and former captain Sandeep Lamichhane was unable to obtain a visa to the United States and therefore could not participate in the matches held there.

However, he has already reached the West Indies and will be available for the matches there.
