KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal stated that Kailash Sirohiya, Chair of Kantipur Media Group, was arrested through judicial procedures rather than personal vendetta.

Speaking to journalists after addressing an international expert dialogue on “Himalayas, People, and Climate Change” on Wednesday, the Prime Minister clarified that the arrest was made following a court order to proceed with the process. He emphasized that there was no need for excessive commotion on the matter. Dahal reiterated that the government harbors no animosity towards Sirohiya, dismissing rumors that Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister acted out of personal spite.

Dahal remarked, “The court instructed the process to move forward, so I understand it as a judicial process. There is no need for excessive commotion. Claims that the government is acting out of revenge are incorrect. What enmity would we have with him? The notion that the Home Minister is personally involved is merely what people are saying. If he is innocent, he will easily be acquitted through this judicial process, and this issue will be resolved.”
