KATHMANDU: Jyoti Bikash Bank has provided life saving baby warmers to five different health posts in remote and rural parts of Karnali State

Baby warmers that are used to maintain the proper body temperature of newborns and prevent hypothermia, have been installed in health posts and birthing centers located in Jumla, Kalikot, Mugu, and Dailekh districts.

The Bank has installed these machines in those health posts with the purpose of preventing premature death due to hypothermia and save lives.

The bank has provided a total of 43 baby warmers in different phases across various locations in the country till date, with this phase focusing on geographically remote areas.

The bank noted that the incidence of hypothermia is particularly high in remote areas, posing a significant risk to the lives of newborns.

Understanding the importance of reducing this risk, the bank has provided these sensitive and essential devices to the health institutions.

The bank believes that these devices will help eliminate the risk of hypothermia and the necessity of a two-day journey on rough roads for treatment of conditions that could occur post hypothermia.

The machines have been provided through the “Hamro Bikash Prabardhan Kosh,” established by Jyoti Bikash Bank for its corporate social responsibility purposes.

The health posts that have been directly benefited include Birat Health Post in Ward No. 03 of Kanakasundari Rural Municipality in Jumla District; Chilkaya Health Post in Ward No. 09 of Tilagupha Municipality in Kalikot District; Gum Health Post under Chhayanath Rara Municipality in Mugu District; Lankuri Health Post in Ward No. 02 of Dungeshwar Rural Municipality in Dailekh District; and the birthing center of Dungeshwar Basic Health and Sanitation Service Center in Ward No. 04, Awalparajul, Dungeshwar Rural Municipality, Dailekh District.

The baby warmers were officially handed over in programs organized at the hospitals, attended by various bank officials, health post officials, and other local representatives. Additionally, during the same programs, doctors, nurses, and other relevant staff received special training on operating the baby warmers from experts.

The bank has also coordinated to ensure the optimal use of these devices by providing specialized training.
