Elderly couple dies in house fire in Dhading

KATHMANDU: An elderly couple died when a house caught fire in a house called Ghatekhola in Purandanda, Thakre Rural Municipality-5 of Dhading.

Tej Bahadur Lama, aged 70, and his wife Thuli Lama, also aged 70, succumbed to the blaze that engulfed their home.

According to Gautam K.C., the Chief of Police in Dhadhing, the house suffered extensive damage due to the fire, with all belongings, including food supplies and utensils, destroyed.

“We received the news of the house fire around 11:30 PM,” he said. “A temporary police checkpoint and the local police station’s team reached the scene to find the couple had already passed away.”

Additionally, two houses and four cowsheds were also burned down in Gorkha, located nearby.

In the Dhadhing District Police Office, Deputy Superintendent of Police Ramesh Kumar Shrestha informed that Parvati Rana and Rupa Rana’s houses in the jungle near Thulo Ripa in Ward No. 5 of Gorkha Municipality suffered significant damage.

Furthermore, Ful Bahadur Magar’s cowshed in the same area of Palungtar Municipality-9, Chalisdanda, also incurred damage from the fire. Sadly, one cow in the shed also perished in the incident.
