A joint panel of judges at the Patan High Court, comprising Sudarshan Dev Bhatta and Purushottam Prasad Dhakal, has delayed the proceedings on this matter.

Lamichhane, who was found guilty of rape, lodged an appeal on Feb 22 against the verdict issued by Judge Shishir Raj Dhakal of the Kathmandu District Court.

The Kathmandu District Court handed down an eight-year prison sentence to cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane for his involvement in a rape case.

Additionally, the court instructed Lamichhane to pay a fine of Rs 300,000 and provide Rs 200,000 in compensation to the victim for emotional distress.

In response to Lamichhane’s appeal, the Patan High Court has directed authorities to procure the birth certificate of Gaushala 26, the alleged victim in Lamichhane’s case.
