KATHMANDU: A dark comedy film Zero Degree, produced under the Meghauli Films banner, has officially completed its filming.

The production wrapped up on Monday in Dhital village of Kaski with the final shot featuring actors Rajan Bhusal and Prakash Ghimire.

The film, which began shooting at Armalakot Temple in Pokhara, was initially scheduled for 35 days but took 37 days to complete.

Filming took place across scenic and culturally rich locations around Pokhara, including Armalakot, Dhital, Gharmi, and Bagar.

The production team faced significant weather-related challenges throughout the shoot, with frequent rainfall nearly every day.

Despite the difficult conditions, filming continued without interruption, and in the final phase, the crew even worked up to 30 consecutive hours to complete the schedule.

Director Aakas Baral said the atmosphere on set remained lively and energetic despite the hardships. “Even with constant rain and difficult conditions, there wasn’t a single day without laughter on set. If we can bring that same joy to the audience, we will consider ourselves successful,” he said.

The film is jointly directed and written by Sajan Kafle and Aakas Baral. Actor Bijay Baral will appear in a completely new and unseen role, although the directors have kept details about his character under wraps. Baral described the collaboration between the actor and the directors as “one of the best.”

Zero Degree revolves around a unique and darkly humorous storyline set in a remote village with limited road access. After the death of parents, their children living abroad fail to return, prompting villagers to transport a deep freezer up the hills to preserve the bodies. The narrative explores the chaotic and humorous situations that arise from this unusual premise.

Before filming, the film’s satirical song “Arey Oh Neta Ji” was released.

The movie features a strong ensemble cast including Bijay Baral, Prakash Ghimire, Rajan Bhusal, Sanisha Bhattarai, veteran actress Basundhara Bhusal, Ramesh Budhathoki, Lokendra Lekhak, Sanjog Rasaily, Pravesh Mehatra Kshetri, Sharada Silwal, Sabina Thapa Kshetri, Ram Babu Regmi, Subash Gajurel, and Basu Khanal.

Moti Karki serves as the executive producer, while Nishal Paudel handled cinematography.

Editing is by Chhans Pun Magar, color grading by Rajendra Moktan, music by Ankit Babu Adhikari, and lyrics by Yuvraj Kafle.

The film’s publicity design is managed by Royal Bhimsen and Trident Concept Team. Distribution will be handled by Kuber Cine Distribution outside Kathmandu Valley and DCN within the valley.

According to director Baral, Zero Degree is slated for release before this year’s Dashain festival.
