KATHMANDU: The women-centric dance drama Mokshada has begun its performances at Thapagaun Mandala Theatre.

The production, which previously featured at the 2019 Nepal International Theatre Festival and the 25th India Rang Mahotsav in Feb 2025 in New Delhi and Patna, explores the struggle for women’s freedom against societal restrictions.

Produced by theatre artist Somnath Khanal, the play features performances by Sumni Ma Sampang, Glory Thapa, Kripa Bajracharya, Manisha Basnet, and Roz Maharjan.

Through dance, the drama raises its voice against the constraints and discrimination women face in the name of tradition, culture, and relationships.

Directed by Namrata KC, Mokshada blends various dance forms, including folk, Kathak, and contemporary styles, creating a unique theatrical experience.

The play will be staged for three shows: Feb 28 at 3:00 PM and 5:30 PM, and Feb 29 at 5:30 PM.
