KATHMANDU: Uruguay and Saudi Arabia played out a 1-1 draw in their opening Group H match of the FIFA World Cup 2026 at Miami Stadium in Florida on Tuesday morning.

Saudi Arabia took the lead in the 41st minute through Abdullah Al-Amri, who found the back of the net to put his side ahead before halftime.

Uruguay responded late in the game, with Maxi Araújo scoring in the 80th minute to level the contest and rescue a point for the South American side.

Despite dominating possession and creating more chances, Uruguay were unable to find a winner.

They registered 11 shots on target compared to Saudi Arabia’s three.

Neither team managed another breakthrough after Araújo’s equaliser, and the match ended 1-1.

With the result, all four teams in Group H have collected one point each after the opening round of matches, leaving the group wide open heading into the next fixtures.
