UML Secretary Sherdhan Rai registers candidacy

KATHMANDU: Nepal Communist Party (UML) Secretary Sherdhan Rai has officially registered his candidacy for the upcoming House of Representatives election.

Rai filed his nomination at the Office of the Chief Election Officer on Tuesday.

In Bhojpur, which has only one parliamentary constituency, Rajaram Basi of the Nepal Workers and Peasants Party (NWPP) has registered his candidacy as the first contender, followed by Dhurva Rai of the Labour Culture Party.

Election officials estimate that a total of 13 political parties—both established and newly formed—will field candidates in the district.

According to the Election Commission, Bhojpur currently has 125,766 registered voters.
