Over 2,500 drivers penalized in Kathmandu Valley in 24 hours

KATHMANDU: A total of 2,598 drivers were taken action against in the past 24 hours for violating traffic rules in the Kathmandu Valley, according to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office.

The enforcement drive generated a revenue of Rs 1.78 million (Rs 17,86,501) for the state.

Among those penalized, 199 were found driving under the influence of alcohol, 167 were operating ride-sharing services in violation of regulations, 120 violated traffic signal lights, and 168 were caught overspeeding.

Similarly, 120 drivers failed to maintain lane discipline, 126 were fined for using their horns unnecessarily in restricted areas, 156 were fined for illegal roadside or sidewalk parking, and 186 were fined for driving on one-way roads.

The remaining 1,356 were penalized for various other traffic violations.
