UML is a true communist party, not one to burn Singha Durbar: Oli
He cautioned leaders and cadres against acting against party decisions under the guise of personal opinion or independence.
KATHMANDU: Newly elected Nepali Congress (UML) Chair KP Sharma Oli has emphasized that his party is a disciplined and democratic communist organization, not a group that misuses its national flag for destructive acts.
Addressing the first meeting of the party’s Central Committee following the 11th General Convention on Friday, Oli stated that every member must work with strict discipline and adhere to policies formulated through collective efforts.
He cautioned leaders and cadres against acting against party decisions under the guise of personal opinion or independence.
Oli said, “UML is a genuine communist party. It is not a party that hides behind the flag to burn Singha Durbar or pursue fake agendas. Such a party requires firm discipline. While our party is democratic, and individuals are free to study, think, and form their own conclusions, no one should act against the party’s policies and decisions in the name of personal freedom. That is not discipline.”
He also instructed members to refrain from using mobile phones during meetings and stressed that any activity contrary to national interests would not be tolerated.
