KATHMANDU: The southern Lebanese coastal city of Tyre, renowned for its ancient heritage and Mediterranean charm, is now visibly marked by the aftermath of the recent military conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.

Months of intense hostilities have left behind a landscape of destruction, with damaged buildings, burned-out vehicles, and abandoned neighborhoods serving as stark reminders of the war’s devastation.

Across the city, signs of Israeli airstrikes remain clearly visible. Numerous residential structures lie in ruins, while damaged buildings stand near archaeological sites that reflect Tyre’s historic identity. The city, once celebrated for its rich cultural legacy spanning thousands of years, now bears the physical scars of modern warfare.

Local residents say the area endured repeated heavy bombardments during the conflict, resulting in widespread destruction and disruption of daily life. Despite this, parts of the city are gradually showing signs of recovery as residents cautiously return and attempt to restore normalcy.

Lebanese flags can now be seen flying amid the rubble—symbols, according to locals, of resilience and the city’s determination to endure and rebuild.

While Tyre remains one of Lebanon’s most significant archaeological and historical centers, it now faces a dual challenge: preserving its ancient heritage while simultaneously rebuilding neighborhoods devastated by war.
