KATHMANDU: Professors, part-time teachers, and staff under the Joint Struggle Committee at Tribhuvan University have launched a pressure-driven protest, accusing the university administration of misusing its autonomy by failing to implement a government decision.

The protesters say the university has not enforced the Cabinet decision made on Asar 20, 2082 BS, which directed that internal academic and administrative staff be included in the accumulated retirement pension system.

Following the delay in implementation, agitating faculty members began a sit-in protest, demanding immediate enforcement of the government’s directive.

Demonstrators carried placards and chanted slogans calling for equal pension benefits for professors and university employees, urging the authorities: “Implement the government decision in Tribhuvan University” and “Ensure pension management for university staff.”
