KATHMANDU: The new literary creation “Mitty and the Wild Cat” by former Prime Minister Sushila Karki is set to be published, marking another addition to her growing body of literary work.

Karki is believed to have written the book during one of the most challenging phases of her political leadership, when she was heading the interim government formed amid a period of national uncertainty following a Gen-Z-led movement that displaced the then administration.

Despite the intense responsibilities of governance, she reportedly maintained her creative engagement, focusing the book on child psychology and imagination.

The author has described the work as a reflection of creativity preserved even in times of instability.

Dedicated to her grandson, the book is said to convey powerful messages of love, hope, and positivity.

Through interactions between birds and animals, the narrative explores themes of empathy, cooperation, interdependence, and emotional understanding, making it both engaging and educational for young readers.

Karki, Nepal’s first female Chief Justice and a former head of government, has previously published “Nyay” (a memoir) and “Kara” (a novel) in Nepali.

She is also known for her writings on gender equality and feminism.

The author has described “Mitty and the Wild Cat” as a gift for children growing up in an era of uncertainty, aiming to inspire resilience, imagination, and emotional awareness.
