KATHMANDU: The film “Roll No. 1” has been warmly received by school students, according to its makers, who say the movie has successfully achieved its intended purpose of connecting with young audiences.

Producer Binod Paudel stated that the response from students has been highly positive. “Students are appreciating our film.

The objective we had while making Roll No. 1 has been fulfilled,” he said. “Those who watched it are saying it is a good movie and encouraging all students to watch it.”

He further emphasized that parents should take responsibility for bringing their children to cinemas to watch the film, given its relevance to student life and education.

The producer highlighted that the film explores students’ emotions, learning environment, and the pressures created by academic evaluation systems.

He added that teachers and parents should watch the film together with students to better understand their psychological experiences and educational challenges.

“Students, teachers, and parents should watch this film together. If students had not liked it, we would not have requested them to watch it,” he said. “Since students themselves are recommending it to others, we are also encouraging parents to take their children to the cinema.”

The film, released on Friday, focuses on child psychology and raises questions about pressure in Nepal’s education system, particularly how grading and evaluation methods can affect students’ mental well-being.

Audiences have appreciated this central theme.

Cast members, including Mukun Bhusal, Sunusank Mainali, Renuka Nath Yogi, Awan Raj Upreti, and Sirjana Adhikari, play leading roles.

The film is directed by Jon Yonjan. It is produced by Binod Paudel and Janvi Paudel, with Chhatra Maya Giri and Ramesh Chaulagain serving as co-producers.

The screenplay is written by Mahesh Dawadi, and cinematography is handled by Shivaram Shrestha.
