Meanwhile, out of 35 people who escaped from Itahari police custody during the Gen Z protest, 22 have been re-arrested.
KATHMANDU: Three bullets lost from police custody during the recent Gen Z movement were recovered from a local resident’s house in Itahari Sub-Metropolitan City-10.
Police have taken Tikaram Shrestha, a resident of Itahari-10, into custody for further investigation.
Two bullets compatible with an SLR rifle and one bullet for a 3N-T3 rifle were recovered from his home.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the bullets were looted from police during the protest.
The discovery came during a search related to the theft of police mobile phones during the same movement.
Alongside the stolen phone, the bullets were found, adding a new dimension to the ongoing probe, according to police sources.
DSP Subash Hamal of Itahari Police said, “The investigation is examining all angles—whether the bullets reached a private home through an organized gang or were stolen opportunistically from the crowd during the protest.”
Shrestha is being investigated under charges related to illegal possession of firearms and explosives, with police extending the legal deadline for inquiry.
Meanwhile, out of 35 people who escaped from Itahari police custody during the Gen Z protest, 22 have been re-arrested.
Police have intensified efforts to locate the remaining fugitives.
