The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) had filed the case on Oct 19, citing major irregularities in the procurement of mammography machines.

The case also names former Director General of the Department of Health Services, Dr. Kaushal Mishra, and 13 others.

The CIAA alleges that the accused caused financial losses exceeding Rs 1.46 billion to the state through false bills, fake vouchers, misleading reports, and collusion.

Alongside Dr. Mishra, other officials named in the case include former Director of Health Services Management Division, Dr. Shravan Kumar Thapa; Senior Health Administrator Dr. Surendra Prasad Chaursiya; Director Dr. Vivekumar Lal; former Chief Controller of Accounts Bhuvan Prasad Kafle; Legal Officer Sita Ghimire; Public Health Officer Deepak Adhikari; Branch Officer Yadav Prasad Sapkota; Accounts Officer Shambhu Prasad Dhakal; Accountant Tilak Ram Dhakal; Biomedical Engineer Ashish Chauhan; Padma Mishra; Public Health Inspector Sanjay Kumar Sah; Maxxim Incorporation Trades Pvt. Ltd.; and company executive Sundar Bhusal.
