KATHMANDU: Nepal Communist Party (Maoist Centre) coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal, widely known as Prachanda, is showing steady improvement in his health condition, according to attending doctors.
If the recovery trend continues, he is likely to be discharged from the hospital by tomorrow.
Dahal was admitted to Mediciti Hospital on Saturday morning after developing a fever.
Medical tests revealed mild pneumonia, prompting doctors to recommend hospital-based treatment.
Party leader Madhav Sapkota, who visited Dahal on Sunday morning, said doctors have reported significant improvement in his condition. He added that discharge is possible as early as tomorrow if recovery continues as expected.
According to family sources, Dahal fell ill after returning from a party training program in Sudurpaschim Province held on Jestha 7 and 8.
The extreme heat in Dhangadhi is believed to have contributed to his illness.
Although he initially continued participating in party activities after returning to Kathmandu, his condition worsened, leading to hospital admission.
Youth leader Ram Prasad Sapkota, who also met him at the hospital, confirmed that Dahal’s health is improving and that he may be discharged soon if progress remains stable.
Due to his illness, Dahal was unable to attend the federal parliament session on Jestha 15, where the government presented the upcoming fiscal year’s budget.
