Prachanda stresses unity to conclude Nepal’s peace process
Chair Prachanda expressed confidence that there has never been, and will never be, any conflict between political parties on issues related to the peace agreement.
KATHMANDU: The Chair of the CPN-Maoist Centre, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, has stated that there will be no disagreement among political parties regarding the remaining tasks of the peace process.
Speaking at an interaction program on transitional justice on Thursday, Chair Prachanda expressed confidence that there has never been, and will never be, any conflict between political parties on issues related to the peace agreement.
He emphasized, “There has never been any dispute at the political level on the need to prioritize addressing the victims. Although political parties are divided into ruling and opposition groups, there has never been a disagreement regarding concluding the peace process, and there will not be one in the future.”
Prachanda claimed that despite the delay in passing the TRC (Truth and Reconciliation Commission) bill, the delay was not due to political reasons.

He noted that the TRC bill has been passed, and a recommendation committee has already been formed to establish the commission. He stressed that the process of delivering justice to the victims should be given top priority.
He further explained that despite the complexities of the peace process, he took significant risks to push it forward.
Prachanda added that even though his party faced internal divisions, he risked everything to move the peace process ahead.
He called for unity among all parties to conclude the remaining tasks of the peace process, describing Nepal’s peace process as unique in its nature.
