KATHMANDU: Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, chairman of the CPN (Maoist Centre) and former Prime Minister, has reaffirmed that the construction of the nationally significant Budhigandaki Hydropower Project will continue without interruption.

Addressing a public dialogue today in Thanti Pokhari, Palungtar Municipality-5, as part of the Pushpalal Mid-Hill Highway Awareness Campaign, Prachanda stated, “The project is progressing with secured resources, and nearly Rs 5 billion has already been invested.”

Recalling the numerous debates and discussions held during his tenure as Prime Minister to advance the Budhigandaki project from Baluwatar, he emphasized that its completion would have a transformative impact not only on Gorkha but on the entire nation’s economy.

Prachanda also revealed that Nepal has reached a conceptual agreement with the Chinese government to establish an agricultural industrial zone in Chyangli, Palungtar. “A Chinese team has already visited Nepal to conduct a feasibility study,” he said, stressing, “The agricultural industrial zone must be developed in Palungtar.”

Criticizing the current government, Prachanda accused it of failing to meet public expectations and underscored the need for decisive action on major development projects.
