Sharma said she accepted the offer due to her interest in the story and her character, adding that the film carries a strong family-oriented theme.
KATHMANDU: The sequel to last year’s successful Nepali film “Man Binako Dhan” has been officially announced. Musician and director Tanka Budhathoki revealed the project on Sunday, confirming that actress Pooja Sharma will play the lead role in “Man Binako Dhan 2”.
The original film featured Nita Dhungana in the main role, while the sequel marks a fresh casting change.
After signing the project, Sharma said she accepted the offer due to her interest in the story and her character, adding that the film carries a strong family-oriented theme.
She also shared that she is currently preparing for another project, “Maharajadhiraj,” which is set to begin filming at the end of this month. She plans to dedicate time to “Man Binako Dhan 2” from around September.
The title “Man Binako Dhan” is originally a popular song by Tanka Budhathoki and has garnered more than 300 million views on YouTube.
The song also marked the debut of child singer Ashok Darji, who played a central role in the first film as well.
However, his involvement in the sequel has not yet been confirmed.
Despite competing with major releases such as “Jaari 2,” the first installment of “Man Binako Dhan” managed to earn around Rs 40 million at the box office, becoming a commercial success.
Following this performance, Budhathoki decided to develop a sequel.
The upcoming film will be directed by Budhathoki himself, while Vishnu Maya Mainali will serve as producer.
The script has been written by Shivam Adhikari.
