KATHMANDU: Pokhara Metropolitan City has launched a demolition drive to remove illegally constructed buildings on encroached government land in the Prithvi Chowk area.

The structures were occupied by various political parties and social organizations.

Acting on its ongoing “encroachment clearance” campaign, the metropolitan authority used excavators on Thursday to demolish the unauthorized structures.

Officials confirmed that a total of nine buildings belonging to different political parties and organizations were removed during the operation.

The city administration stated that the campaign, initiated on Sunday, is focused on reclaiming public land and managing riverbank areas in an organized manner.

Authorities further emphasized that the removal of encroachments will continue as part of its regular enforcement drive to protect public property and ensure proper urban management.
