PM Oli urges nationwide good governance drive

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has emphasized the need to launch a nationwide “Good Governance Campaign” to realize the national aspiration of “Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali.”
Speaking at the 24th anniversary celebration of the National Vigilance Centre at Singha Durbar today, PM Oli said that, in line with the constitutional directive principles, corruption, irregularities, and delays must be eliminated to ensure smooth public service delivery without any shortcomings.
Addressing an audience that included the Chief Secretary, the Chief of Army Staff, all secretaries, and heads of security agencies, the Prime Minister stressed that cleanliness, transparency, and access to services are citizens’ rights, and every state agency must remain equally active in safeguarding those rights. He warned that individuals involved in corrupt practices will not earn genuine respect, even if they hold high office.
Quoting the United Nations’ principle of “No One Left Behind,” PM Oli urged a firm commitment to meeting people’s basic needs and ensuring a dignified and secure life for all.
“To transform Nepal into a developed nation, we must run with a firm determination for good governance,” Oli stated. “Some are trying to incite dissatisfaction and create chaos, but we must resist this and instead raise awareness for good deeds alongside knowledge. Naturally fertile and historically a cradle of knowledge, Nepal has no reason to lag behind in development. We must now work to eliminate all forms of backwardness from the country, and I believe the Vigilance Centre will play an active role in this mission.”
