KATHMANDU: Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli has said that Nepal has officially registered its objection with China over the agreement between China and India to use the Lipulekh area—Nepali territory—as a trade corridor.

During his official visit to China from Bhadra 14 to 18, PM Oli said he directly conveyed Nepal’s disagreement on the matter to Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Speaking at the inaugural session of the CPN-UML’s second Statute Convention held at Sunrise Assembly Hall in Lalitpur today, PM Oli reaffirmed that Nepal has been consistently raising the issue with India as well.

“Lipulekh is our land, and we have made our position clear to both our neighbors,” said Oli.

He also clarified that Nepal has not expressed any support for China’s Global Security Initiative (GSI), stating that the country maintains a neutral stance in international security alignments.
