KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli extended his congratulations and best wishes to the newly elected leadership of Press Chautari Nepal.

During a meeting at the Prime Minister’s residence, Baluwatar, on Thursday morning, Prime Minister Oli, who is also the chair of the CPN-UML, stated that the unanimous selection of the central committee of Press Chautari sends a positive message.

He encouraged them to actively engage in professional, ideological, and organizational work.

The new central committee under the leadership of Ganesh Pandey was elected during the 10th National Convention of Press Chautari, which took place from March 23 to 25 in Biratnagar.

Oli mentioned that although aspirants had met with him regarding appointments, he had not influenced the selection of individuals for positions.

He emphasized that his only wish was for the leadership to be chosen through consensus at the convention.

Prime Minister Oli further stressed the importance of contributing to the nation’s prosperity, social harmony, and unity through the media sector, urging them to avoid falsehoods and accusations.

He also advised them to be vigilant in preventing any form of divisive elements, such as religious, ethnic, linguistic, regional, or gender-based issues, from infecting the organization through social media.

The meeting was attended by newly elected President Ganesh Pandey, outgoing Chair Ganesh Basnet, former President Rajendra Aryal, senior leader Bishwamani Suvedi, and others.
