PM Oli calls Kathmandu protests ‘normal’ and urges calm

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has described the ongoing protests in Kathmandu as a normal occurrence.
He stated that rallies involving 10,000 to 15,000 people have always been a part of Nepal’s political landscape and should not be exaggerated.
He addressed the public concerns, clarifying that there was no need to fear about exaggerated rumors surrounding what might happen in Kathmandu tomorrow.
“Rallies with 10,000 to 15,000 participants have always taken place in Nepal. There’s no need to blow things out of proportion,” said Prime Minister Oli. “One rally might happen at Bhirkutimandap, and another at Koteshwor. That’s all there is to it.”
The Prime Minister emphasized that such gatherings are not uncommon in Kathmandu, urging people not to be swayed by unnecessary panic.
“These events happen regularly. Tomorrow will be no different. There’s a lot of unnecessary fear and speculation about what might happen, but there is no reason for alarm. We must focus on moving forward with our development efforts without getting distracted by these things,” he added.
