PM Balen pledges study-based action on commission reports & wildlife issues
He noted that the reportedly around 10,000-page document will be made public once it is officially obtained.
KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Balen Shah has said that reports of various investigation commissions formed over different periods will be studied and made public after a comprehensive review.
Responding to questions raised by lawmakers in the House of Representatives on Sunday, the Prime Minister informed that the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) report has not yet been formally received at the Prime Minister’s Office, although parts of it have been widely discussed in the media.
He noted that the reportedly around 10,000-page document will be made public once it is officially obtained.
He further stated that a separate committee will be formed to study reports of various commissions related to different national incidents, and government decisions will be taken based on its recommendations.
On a separate issue, the Prime Minister also addressed the growing problem of crop damage caused by monkeys, saying a study committee has already been formed to address the issue. He described the situation as complex and challenging.
He said fencing fields and forests to separate human settlements from wildlife zones would be very costly, and stressed that the government is exploring non-lethal and alternative solutions used successfully in other countries.
The government will prepare a concrete action plan after receiving the committee’s findings, he added.
