The Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT) has mobilized its full resources to accelerate preparations for the auspicious occasion.
Extensive renovation, painting, and cleaning efforts are underway at the Pashupatinath Temple, nearby shrines, and ghats, bringing a vibrant new look to the sacred area.
Walls are being freshly painted, while special cleaning campaigns aim to remove dust and debris, ensuring a safe and convenient experience for devotees. Damaged structures are also being repaired to enhance both aesthetics and functionality.
According to Subashchandra Joshi, Executive Director of PADT, nine specialized subcommittees are closely monitoring essential aspects of the festival, including management, security, health, sanitation, and traffic arrangements.
To ensure the Maha Shivaratri celebrations are organized and dignified, a 171-member main festival committee has been formed under the leadership of Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Anil Kumar Sinha.
Considering the large number of domestic and international pilgrims expected, particular attention has been given to the deployment of security personnel and volunteers.
As the festival approaches, the area has seen a significant increase in the activities of sadhus and saints.
Ascetics from various districts of Nepal, as well as from neighboring India, including Naga, Aghori, and other sects, have begun establishing their dhunis (sacred fire pits).
Areas like Mrigasthali and Bhasmeshwar are now imbued with an intensified spiritual atmosphere as devotees engage in meditation and rituals.
With these comprehensive preparations, Pashupatinath is set to host Maha Shivaratri in a safe, orderly, and spiritually enriching environment, reflecting the festival’s grandeur and deep religious significance.
