Parliament yet to begin, PM Oli avoids answering
According to the Secretariat of Speaker Devrraj Ghimire, the Prime Minister has not formally informed Parliament of his readiness to provide an answer.
KATHMANDU: Despite ongoing demands from opposition parties in Parliament regarding the dismissal of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Executive Director Kulman Ghising, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has yet to respond.
According to the Secretariat of Speaker Devrraj Ghimire, the Prime Minister has not formally informed Parliament of his readiness to provide an answer.
Opposition parties, taking a firm stand, have been obstructing the regular proceedings of Parliament until the Prime Minister clarifies his position on the matter.
Speaker Ghimire has been in continuous consultations with the chief whips of major political parties to resolve the impasse.
However, as of the time of reporting, the scheduled meeting of the House of Representatives, set for 11:00 AM on Friday, has yet to begin.
Currently, discussions are ongoing at the Parliament building in New Baneshwor, with key political figures participating, including Speaker Ghimire, Deputy Speaker Indira Rana, UML’s Chief Whip Mahesh Bartula, Congress’ Whip Shushila Thing, and chief whips from opposition parties such as Maoist’s Hitraj Pandey, RSP’s Santosh Pariyar, and RPP’s Gyanendra Shah, among others.
