‘Paari Butol’ teaser released, promises gritty gangster drama rooted in reality

KATHMANDU: The official teaser of the upcoming Nepali film ‘Paari Butol’, directed by Ganesh Dev Pandey, has been released, offering a compelling glimpse into a gritty gangster drama set against a deeply realistic backdrop.
The teaser sequentially introduces the film’s central characters, highlighting their distinct looks and personalities, strongly establishing the movie’s gangster genre.

It showcases powerful performances by the cast, complemented by Mahesh Paudel’s dynamic cinematography, Jataved Benarjee’s intense background score, and a rap track by artist Bhoyoma, creating a striking audiovisual blend.
According to writer and director Pandey, ‘Paari Butol’ is more than just a gangster film. It tells the story of youth, their families, everyday struggles, and the informal systems and power games they encounter while chasing success. The film aims to present a grounded narrative that reflects these realities.

Shot in authentic locations across Butwal, the film captures the city’s raw atmosphere, offering audiences a highly local and realistic cinematic experience.
The characters are inspired by real people and lived experiences from the region, with dialogue, behavior, and body language drawn from real-life observations, strengthening the film’s emotional and narrative authenticity.
To ensure strong character development, the production team conducted extensive preparation, including auditions of nearly 1,000 actors. Selected performers underwent six months of acting workshops followed by a month-long action workshop before filming began.

The film is produced by Lyaksi Shrestha, with Manisha Adhikari as co-producer. The cast features Anup Baral, Manisha Koirala, Kameshwar Chaurasia, Divya Dev, Subarna Thapa, Nirisha Ghatani, Tufan Thapa, Aviral Pratap Adhikari, Kiran Shrestha, Sujog Timsina, Sushil Sitoula, Bikram Shrestha, and several other notable actors.

The film also features action choreography by NB Maharjan, editing by Lokesh Bajracharya, art direction by Manita Sundas, and location sound by Rohit Baral.
Poster and publicity design is handled by Royal Bhimsen.

Rooted in real-life experiences and grounded storytelling, ‘Paari Butol’ is expected to leave a strong impression on Nepali audiences.
