Order issued to use rubber bullets in Gen Z protest

KATHMANDU: Authorities have authorized security forces to use rubber bullets during the Gen Z protests in New Baneshwor.

Chief District Officer of Kathmandu, Chhabi Rijal, directed security personnel to take necessary measures to protect public property.

Assistant Chief District Officer Mukti Rijal confirmed that security forces have been permitted to fire rubber bullets if required.

“If there is an attack on public property, security forces can issue warnings and use minimal force, including rubber bullets if necessary,” Rijal said.

He clarified that there was no order to directly target individuals with live ammunition, and the authorization extends only to the controlled use of rubber bullets.
