KATHMANDU: There has been significant opposition to the removal of Kulman Ghising, the Executive Director of Nepal Electricity Authority, in the National Assembly.

As soon as the session began, lawmakers from opposition parties stood up in protest, voicing their concerns.

Gopi Sharma Achami, a member of the CPN (Maoist Centre), strongly criticized the government’s decision to dismiss Ghising.

He called on the Prime Minister to provide a clear explanation, insisting that the session should not proceed until clarification was given.

Achami expressed his objection to the fact that Ghising, who had successfully ended load-shedding in the country, was being punished instead of being recognized and rewarded for his achievements.

In the House of Representatives today, opposition parties echoed similar concerns, accusing the government of removing Ghising to serve the interests of certain groups and middlemen.

Their protests highlighted their belief that the decision was politically motivated and detrimental to the progress made in the power sector.
